Breakfast at Tiffany's & a Timeless Trench Coat

Who could ever forget Audrey Hepburn's big break as a hopeless romantic in the timeless classic Breakfast at Tiffany's.  Hepburn's naive and eccentric character, Holly Golightly, spends her time at wealthy parties, meeting high-class men who take her on expensive dates.  But portraying a childlike innocence and carefree spirit, she fears the ever so inevitable commitment to a cheeky romance spawned by a new neighbor in the area, which will unknowingly cost her more than her Givenchy clothing and accessories.

Even despite her blithe and airy innocence, Audrey Hepburn's character is doused in the most desired of designer clothing!  Although most of her outfits have stolen the hearts of many on the flawless Audrey Hepburn, the light-beige trench coat doubling as a chic raincoat made the final scene impossible to ignore!

I came across a beautiful vintage trench/raincoat that is nearly identical to that of Audrey Hepburn's on an Etsy shop known as Bop and Awe, owned by a wonderful woman in town.  Bop and Awe is an online vintage shop that collects vintage clothing from as early as the 50s!  The trench coat I am referring to portrays a beautiful, light-beige silhouette with chest and hip pockets, buttons, a cinching belt, and more!  It is at an extremely reasonable price for a vogue raincoat from the 70's that will keep you looking chic in the rain!

Jungle Love

Sun Hat: Charming Charlie's, Crochet Top: 2b by Bebe, Bandeau: Forever 21 Swimwear, High-Waisted Shorts: Forever 21

Inspired by the hot, tropical days of the summer, a breezy crochet top over a bandeau swimsuit and high-waisted shorts seemed the perfect attire for the humid atmosphere.  A broad, woven sunhat, gold aviators, and a tribal printed backpack complimented these natural looking colors and completed the look!  

The combination of different prints, fabrics, and materials create a sort of tamed chaos that completes the rugged, outdoor, jungle theme.  Plus, I adore sun hats!  They are cute, fashionable, and smart to wear for protection since the sun beats down so strongly where I am from!  The multiple shades of purple on the shorts and the backpack add a twist to the natural hues of the browns, cremes, and greens in the surroundings.  I personally love this backpack and its print!  It is a sort of tribal or aztech design that we see so often in skirts and shirts this summer, but since it portrays softer colors (like the lilac, soft pink, and gray), it complements the outfit even more than loud colors would.

Retro Modern Pin-Up

Bustier: American Eagle Outfitters, Skirt: Forever 21, Shoes: Candies at Kohls, Eye Wear: Urban Outfitters

Ultimately inspired by my infatuation with the 1950s style I wrote about yesterday, I decided to pull an outfit together that portrayed a bit of a modern pin up look.  I could do a lot better, but I lack the vintage accessories and hair styling products to do so.  So I combined a gray, crochet bustier and high-waisted skirt to bring forth the '50s look.  The floral print seemed to be the piece that added a retro vibe to the whole outfit and doesn't really portray the bland, conservative '50's look. The eye wear, cherry red lipstick, and bandana headband seemed to top off the look and really embrace the 1950s pin up vibe.
